Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, member of the Photography and Digital Imaging Groups

Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

We also arrange visits to places of interest and each month have a General Meeting, open to all members, with a very diverse variety of interesting speakers.

Our next General Meeting is on Thursday 8th September 2022 starting at 2pm. Our speaker is Mervyn Edwards, a retired police chief superintendent and his talk is entitled Walking the Beat to Nirvana. This is based on his book with the same title and, with a good deal of humour, covers his police career, which included special operations, drugs, explosives dogs search teams, armed protection of royalty, counter-terrorism and riot control. The venue for this talk is the Council Chamber in Chesham Town Hall.

If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a, and would like to sample a General Meeting and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Best wishes
