Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, member of the Photography and Digital Imaging Groups

Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

We also arrange visits to places of interest and each month have a General Meeting, open to all members, with a very diverse variety of interesting speakers.

Our next General Meeting is on Thursday 8th June 2023 starting at 2pm when our speaker will be Kindra Jones. Kindra is a professional historian, author and presenter, as well as a natural-born adventurer. She has sailed a medieval ship, lived in a round house, climbed a volcano and enjoyed many more exploits. Kindra's talk is entitled 1066: An Exploration of the Bayeux Tapestry and, in it, she will bring the tapestry to life and delve deeper into this epic work to uncover its mysteries and reveal the unlikely surprises hidden in its stitches. Kindra's talk will be preceded by our 2023 Annual General Meeting. The venue for this meeting will be the Broadway Baptist Church in Chesham Broadway.

If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a and would like to sample a General Meeting and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Best wishes
