Welcome!

Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, former member of the Photography with Digital Imaging Group
Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a
Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests. The u3a is a friendly, member-led organisation, run by the members for the members. Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between. In total we have over fifty different activities at the present time.
Our next monthly talk is on Thursday 9th April and features Martin Orkin with The Beatles Story. Following last year's entertaining talk on Simon and Garfunkel, Martin will discuss the wonderful group that gave us so many fantastic recordings during the era of Beatlemania: Love Me Do, She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, and so many more. We will hear snippets of these great songs as Martin recounts their story. Martin has always loved 1960s music and has a large record collection from that era. After retiring in 2010 from a career in banking, he reconnected with his fondness for this music and came up with the concept of his book On The Beatles. He has spent the past four years writing it - all 800 pages!
The venue for this talk is the Broadway Baptist Church, which is wheelchair-accessible and equipped with a hearing loop, and the meeting starts at 2pm.
If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a and would like to sample a Monthly Talk and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.
Best wishes
James
