Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, member of the Photography and Digital Imaging Groups

Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

We also arrange visits to places of interest and each month have a General Meeting, open to all members, with a very diverse variety of interesting speakers.

Our next General Meeting is on Thursday 13th October 2022 starting at 2pm. Our speaker is Howard Slater, a retired lecturer who has been presenting talks for over 30 years. His presentation is entitled Buckingham Palace: Seat of Scandal and covers the five rulers (six including Edward VIII) who have made Buckingham Palace their principal residence. Unsurprisingly, these reigns have seen their fair shares of scandal, tragedy and controversy.  The venue for this talk is the Council Chamber in Chesham Town Hall.

If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a, and would like to sample a General Meeting and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Best wishes
